Observations Worth Pondering

1. Geese fly in “V” formation for greater range of the entire flock. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates uplift for the bird following. This adds seventy-one percent more to their flying range than if one bird was flying alone. Lesson: People who share a sense of common direction in their spiritual and business journey and community together, get where they are going quicker and easier.
2. When a goose falls out of formation it feels the resistance of flying alone and quickly gets back into formation. Lesson: Always be in a community with those headed in the same direction you know God wants you to go.
3. The geese in formation honk to encourage the lead goose. lesson: Be sure your honking is profitable. Be in a place where your honking is an encouragement to others clearing the way for you.
4. When a goose gets sick or wounded, two geese fall out of formation and follow it to the ground, protecting it. They stay until their companion dies or is able to fly again, and then launch out to catch up with the flock. Lesson: Always be in a place where someone knows when you are going down and can help you back up.
5. When a flock of geese are on the ground and resting, they can sound like a party running at high speed from all their honking together! Lesson: Be sure to take the time to share life by just having fun with those you are journeying with in life. You can add wandering geese to your community flock that way.
6. Geese welcome other geese into their flock when a lost couple choose to join them for the ride. Lesson: Always be looking for other geese out there that need a friendly place where they can fly through life without being alone. We are all geese. It is just that some of us know where we are going and others are still in the process of searching.

It seems to me that we are all involved in this journey much like a flock of geese. We should endeavor to remember the example of the geese as we move forward.
